Old School Romance

There was something special and fascinating about love in 60-70s or even till 80s, before the modernized version of the once a upon a time “rare” and pristine emotion. When it was all about that one look, one letter, one smile and one person in your life which somehow connected all your dots into outlines of dreams and random lines into figures of reality. We all feel the lyrics to “Aaj jaane ki zidd na karo”, “Lag jaa gale” or any other song describing the delicate and still strongly knit blanket of emotions synonym to just one. But somewhere our reaction and those words are so ironic to how we feel and depict the same emotion. Everything escalates and plummets rapidly that the time and efforts we expected to form the very same blanket is overpowered by our very own expectations. The difference between today’s love and the old school “pyaar” is definitely there but, it is not constant. It increases when it comes to the visible reality and disappears in our dreams and thoughts. We all feel the same way when it comes to love: magical.

Beautiful translations of old Bollywood Music:

Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo

Tonight, don’t insist on leaving
Keep on sitting close to me like you are
Oh I will die
I will be lost
Don’t say such things
Just think for a moment
why should I not stop you.
My life seems to leave my body when you get up and go,
I swear to you, my beloved
Just agree to this request of mine
Tonight, don’t insist on leaving
Life is trapped in the prison of time
But these are the few moments that are free
By losing them, my beloved
Let’s not have a life of regret
Tonight, don’t insist on leaving
What an innocent, colorful weather it is
It is the peak of beauty and love today
Who knows what will happen tomorrow
Let’s stop this night, tonight
Tonight, don’t insist on leaving

Lag Ja Gale

Embrace/hug me for who knows if this beautiful night will ever come again
Maybe, in this life, we may or may not meet again.
I have been given today, this time, by destiny.
To your hearts content see me (get to know me) closely.
Who knows, if your destiny, may present this situation again.
Maybe, in this life, we may or may not meet again.
Come closer to me, as I will not be able to come to you every time.
Put your arms around me (Hug) and let us cry thousands of times.
Who knows, if our eyes will ever see these tears of love again.
